Inset Cabinet Face Frame Dimensions
Build the face frame so that the bottom rail rails are horizontal boards and stiles are vertical boards projects 1 16 in.

The bottom rail is almost always 1 1 4 to 1 1 2 inches in width. For the overlay doors i have been making all perimeter rails and stiles 1 3 4 inches and all middle stile and rails at 2 1 4 inches so i end up with 1 1 4 inch of all of the stiles and rails exposed with my 1 2 inch overlay doors. Center or divider rails typically measure 2. Face frames on sides of kitchen cabinets should overlap 1 4 in.

Begin with the right cabinet dimensions. So when the doors overlay the face frame by 1 2 on each opening it also leaves a nice 1 2 gap between the doors and drawer fronts and allows you to see a fair amoun of. I reduce the door size with the sander and check the fit. Face frames will overhang the cabinet side by 5 16 unless the flush end option is requested only available on advantage.
The face frames in the above picture are 1 1 2 wide. This makes room for adjustments when installing them next to one another. Frameless cabinets would be just the cabinet box and the hinge mounting plates then attach to the cabiinet side walls. Overlaps on the sides let you fine tune the cabinet width during installation.
