The hinges should be placed so that one is 7 inches from the top of the door frame and the other is located 11 inches from the bottom of the door frame. If you have recently replaced your outdated door knobs or doors levers or plan to do so soon you will definitely want to replace your door hinges so that all of your door hardware is in the same finish.
When you replace a door slab in an existing frame you may have to mortise the hinges into the door. You don t need to take the whole door down just remove one hinge and replace it with a new one then do the next one and finally swap out the final one. Position the new hinges an equal distance from the top and bottom of the door. Replacing door hinges is super easy.
